That's not thunder. . .

what it's like

So it turns out that the Really Loud peal of thunder that woke us up at 6:11 this morning. . .was an earthquake.  Epicenter in Sidney, 2.6 on the scale.  Sidney's about 15 miles from the Cat Farm and Confusion Factory.

For the record, I am against this increased trending in Maine earthquakes.

Have I mentioned here that the ebook edition of A Liaden Universe® Constellation, Volume One is now available in all formats known to man from Baen and also from the Amazon Kindle store?  Well, it is.  The paper book will be on the shelves of a bookstore near you on July 2.

Yesterday was another boring day from an observer's point of view.  I wrote 3,700 words of climax for Carousel Seas.  Today, with luck and a tailwind, I'll take care of the wrap-up, and then it will be done!  Done!  DOOOONE!

Ahem.  Except for the final pass-through and patch, of course.  But that's next week and in-between, there's a weekend.

Mike the Electrician and his helper, Scott, did enliven the early part of yesterday by arriving to install the two new ceiling fans.  FWIW, they pronounce the Harbor Breeze Hive Series flush-mount ceiling fan Best! Ceiling! Fan! Ever!  We're pretty happy with them, too.

. . .and I think that's all I have to report.

Who has exciting plans for the weekend?

Progress on Carousel Seas

96,670/100,000 words OR 97% complete

I understood the land's distress.  Nerazi was the second person I'd met in the Changing Land; she'd helped Gran nurse me back from being elfshot and almost dead.  In all the time since, I'd seen her at a standstill exactly twice.

And I'd never seen her afraid.

earthquakes and other items
I didn't realize that you had earthquakes in Maine. Of course, I live in California so unless they are over about 5.5 we don't notice them. So glad you are coming to a close on Carousel Seas. Can't wait to read each and every book you and/or Steve produce. Thanks for the heads-up on Vol. I of the companion. I will download as soon as I find my Kindle, which is what I will be doing this weekend. Moved our computer room and everything is in (or overflowing) various boxes. Oh the snippet was especially good as well!

Re: earthquakes and other items
Earthquakes are. . .very rare in Maine, as on most of the East Coast. Our underpinings are more or less solid granite. It's one of the things that I've always really liked about living on the East Coast.

Sadly, earthquakes are becoming more common. Which is disturbing. A nor'easter that drops twenty-four inches of snow on the house? No big deal. The earth roaring and the house shuddering -- is disturbing.

Good luck on the relocation of the computer room and the finding of all the wires!

That's a fascinating snippet, and it pains me that I'll have to wait for not just the next book but the one after that to follow through.

Constellation, glad to hear the e-book is available so soon.

*Yeep*! Earthquakes in Maine?!
Previous to this I had been unaware they could be found there ....

The earthquakes are new. They can stop anytime.

Ceiling fans are wonderful. Now remember, they are supposed to turn clockwise in winter and counterclockwise in summer. The little switch on the side controls the direction of rotation. My house has five of them, with only the kitchen having none.

I wonder if ours has the little switch? Will check.
